Ron and I performed at a house concert with our friend/bassist Daniel (a.k.a. “Phil Durt”) recently. Collectively, we are called Sharine and the Moonlighters. We play a variety of musical styles — such as rock, jazz, pop, blues, and folk — spanning from around 1930 to current contemporary. Ron and I also have a sizable repertoire of our eclectic original songs to draw from, some of which were written by me and my songwriting partner from the 1990s, Al Villanueva.
I was planning ahead (as I mentioned!) to post something other than my food-related creative efforts here, so when my friend Karla arrived at the party, I handed her my phone and asked her to get video of two songs. Unfortunately, the original song we performed that she captured, “Summer Song (Wars and Changes),” was overshadowed by the loud chitter-chatter of 6-8 people in the kitchen area of the Great Room where we performed. It was likely the best performance of that song by our trio since we brought Daniel on board with it last year. But my heart got broken when I heard all the background noise in the video recording, so I decided not to post that one.
People can be utterly unconscious!
Maybe I’ll change my mind later.
Well, not long after we played “Summer Song (Wars and Changes)”, everyone but Karla and her beau Jack went outside! So, in the next set, I asked her to capture one of our “house fave” cover songs, the classic Stevie Nicks and Tom Petty duet, “Stop Draggin’ My Heart Around.” (On a side note, Ron and I call it “Stop Dragon.” I think there may be something deeper going on there!)
Without further ado, here is the video, which is also available for viewing on the BooTube data-mining bot-comment-generating platform. You’re welcome.😉🤗
As always, I wish you excellent health, well-being, and life-affirming creativity!💖
You know I love your music!! (We still have several videos to get to Ron one of these days...perhaps in Mesa.) 💗💗
Great cover! Nice guitar playing too ;-)
