I found the Buffalo Run RV Park in Eagleville, Missouri for a good half-way stop between two locations. I don’t know why, but based on the name, I was expecting a huge campground with a hundred or more tent sites, RV parking spots, yurts, and even some cabins or tiny homes.
Even though I, myself, had booked the place in advance, I was wrong. It’s actually laughable. The place was super-small, with just a handful of RV spots (I think I counted seven) and a few tent-only sites.
We checked in well after 5:00 and had to call the owners to get our site number. It all worked out great, and they were friendly and helpful. I mean, it’s not like we had to navigate 380 camp sites!
Anyway, our plan was to leave early the next morning. We had no errands to run so we didn’t bother to decouple the truck and trailer.
There was noise, both from the freeway and the road adjacent to the campground. As we were setting up, I saw dozens of big rigs on the side road, hauling pigs to slaughter. I didn’t sleep well. That was maybe as difficult for you to read as it was for me to actually see their little snouts trying to poke out of the air-holes in the carrier.
(Note to self: I’ll add up my missed hours of rest and sleep it all off later. Wait. No I won’t.)
In the morning, I managed to capture a quick photo of the “buffalo” statue on the property. I used quotation marks because American “buffalo” are actually of the genus Bison bison, which differ greatly from asian water buffalo, for example, and others of its genus.
In my edited photo below, you can see our rig in the background (to the left of the bison statue).
We were up and out much later than planned (it happens sometimes), and then on our way to the next destination: Minnesota.
Oh hey, you betcha.
(My Midwest accent comes out when I’m around my Norwegian family, and sometimes after a glass or two of wine.)
Until then, I always wish you excellent health, well-being, and lots of joyful life-affirming creativity!💝
We just stayed in a small RV park with only 7 FHU spaces too! Small gems! ❤️❤️
Aaah Missouri!! We drove to Redford and back (Wisconsin) last February to get our white German Shepherd puppy,,, out in the middle of nowhere, 😂.
