Thank you, sweet friend! I'm starting to get into doing good stuff around here: Cooking, teaching, entertaining, making music, and getting as much sleep as I need!

And photo editing! I didnt' take the time to stylize each and every photo for this trip series; it just wasn't feasible based on our driving schedule. Sometimes, it's a choice between "edit the photo" and "make dinner"😆!

Having lived in Iowa, Nebraska, Calif, Az, MT, and Colorado, and now Idaho, I know the route you all were on very well. First time in Calico Ghost Town was on a 5th grade field trip in 1959. Fascinating place. My kids loved going to Calico back in the 80's. 28 years living in SLO County were the absolute best. Western Colorado residence for a couple years was also really awesome. Palisades grows the best peaches I've ever had in my life. I imagine it was too early in the season for you to get some tree ripe peaches when you went through there.

Thanks, James. SLO County overall is great, but the city itself is becoming a "woke" nightmare. I do not like the energy there any more; it was starting to get bad around the time I graduated from Cal Poly in early 2016. My husband and I live in North County, which has far more pockets of freedom lovers. Western Colorado is gorgeous, and it's probably my third favorite region of the country (what I've seen of it so far). We got some Palisades peaches last summer in August on our way home, and heck yeah, they were the BEST ever!

North County S.D. or North SLO county? Paso Robles was home from 1973 to 2002. We camped and surfed regularly up and down the Cen Coast all those years. It was awesome back then. Less than 20K population in Paso when we first moved there. 175K total population in SLO County in '73. Sigh. Paso was a good place to raise kids back then. It was all 5-6th gen ranch families, dryland barley, almonds, walnuts, and cattle back then. The wine industry invasion in the 80's-90's changed everything. I moved to Montana in '02 at time of my divorce. I haven't been back to SLO since 2019. As much as I love peace and quiet of mountains and open rural countryside, I miss the ocean most of all. Doubtful due to cost and my age that I will ever be able to move back on the coast. Glad you had a good trip and back home safe and sound.

Yes, I meant North SLO County. I'm in Atascadero, which hasn't changed quite as much as Paso Robles, thank goodness! Although I have to say that the death-cult agenda is taking hold here, too, especially in the schools. It's good to be home, but I'm leaving soon for my dad's side family reunion!

I have 4 grown kids. My oldest daughter lives in Cambria. The other 3 and their families live in Colorado and Texas. I appreciate the chance to talk about the Cen Coast. Get me started on talking about it and I could go on for hours.
